A few changes to YACK, new features.
June 5, 2010 - 12:16

This has probably been kind of annoying for people who have been on the site for the past couple of days, but I've been making some incremental changes to the navigation menu to make the menu choices a little more user-friendly.
I put the posts since last time link on the top of the menu, so new posts are always a click away.
I added a tips section which outlines some ways to use HTML in posts, as well as provides a list of secret smileys like beer,
sick
sushi
and tired
there are dozens.
I'm very excited about the island news link which grabs the rss feed from the independent and the twitter feed from the Inky. Unfortunately the inky feed requires as many as four clicks to get to the story, but at this point, twitter appears to be all of the syndicated content the Inky will provide (Hey, Inky, peeps! If you have an RSS or atom feed somewhere that you;re hiding, let me know. I'd be more than happy to send lots of users to your site.) I also added a nifty little piece of software to the site to check for new stories every hour, so this feed will update itself automatically.
Under the top orange menus, you may have notices that I've added a bunch of links to other sites via the nifty suckerfish drop-down menus. Just hover over links and blogs to see what I mean. They are getting a little long so I may break out the links menu into info links and business links. If anyone out there has a blog or a site that they would like added to the links menus, let me know.
I'm also looking at ways to allow users to upload images directly to the forums from their cell phones. This may require a free subscription to another service. Still working on it.
That's all for now.
YACK on.
G.

Grant - I'm sure I'm speaking for many when I say - Thanks for setting this up, and more thanks for continuing to improve it.
