Blog Post: Merry Christmas. You're fired.

Submitted by yack host on December 23, 2010 - 13:35

I know we've been dedicating way more digital ink to the town counsel situation than we do to a lot of other things. But I just have one more thing to add.
It's bad enough that four people in our local government let town counsel go without any cause. It's bad enough that they provided no explanation nor answered the questions of citizens concerned about the decision. It's bad enough that these four people voted against the better judgement of a number of citizens, many former selectmen and the town clerk. It's bad enough that they did it with very little advanced notice so more people could not take place in the hearing — so little advanced notice, in fact, that they clearly violated the law on open meetings. And it's bad enough that the whole thing stinks of nasty politics and payback.
But the worst part, at least for me, is that these four people — Patty Roggeveen, Brian Chadwick, Whitey Willauer and Libby Gibson worked hard to oust Paul Derensis and his firm on the week of Christmas.
The sooner all of them are no longer in a position to make decisions that can effect the lives of the people of this island, the better, in my opinion.
To the rest of you, my hope is that your lives are full of love and fellowship. That you never want for anything. And that happiness is your constant friend.
Merry Christmas, folks.
G.
